National News: A shocking incident has shaken Jajpur district in Odisha. A 15-year-old girl, who is a hockey player, has accused four coaches of attacking her. The police arrested all four coaches on Monday, July 21, 2025, and are investigating the case. The young girl, who has been training at the Jajpur Hockey Training Centre for the past two years, said the assault took place on the evening of July 3, 2025. This incident has caused outrage in the community, and the authorities are taking it very seriously.

Incident at the Lodge

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred after a regular training session at the Jajpur Hockey Training Centre. The girl stated that the four coaches, who are around 30 years old, forced her to go with them to a nearby lodge. At the lodge, they assaulted her. When she tried to resist, the coaches physically attacked her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about what happened. Frightened by their threats, the girl stayed silent for several days, unable to share her trauma with anyone.

Police Register Case

The police have responded swiftly to the allegations. They have filed a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, charging the coaches with gangrape and related crimes. On Monday, the victim’s statement was recorded in court, which is an important step in the legal process. The police have assured the public that they are treating this case with the utmost seriousness and are committed to ensuring justice for the young girl. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are collecting evidence to build a strong case against the accused.

Details from the Lawyer

Government lawyer Rajib Mohanty provided more details about the incident. He explained that on July 3, the girl was riding her bicycle home after finishing her training session. Two of the coaches, along with another person, stopped her on the way and forced her to go to the lodge. The lawyer emphasized that the case involves serious crimes, and the court is taking the victim’s statement into account to move forward with legal action. The Jajpur Hockey Training Centre, where the incident began, is now under scrutiny as the investigation continues.

The case came to light after the girl’s mother took action. On July 20, Unofficial Translator 20, she informed the Jajpur sports officer about the incident, who then helped file a formal complaint with the police. This led to the arrests and the start of the investigation. The police are working to ensure that justice is served, and the community is hoping for strict punishment for those responsible.
